This precious home is located just outside Trinity Park...a desirable neighborhood built around Duke University East Campus in the early 1900's. The homes in Trinity Park range in architectural style from Colonial to Tudor...and everything in between. Many of the homes were built by the most famous architects of the day and occupied by Duke University professors and Duke University Medical Center physicians. Trinity Park is one of my favorite neighborhoods in Durham, North Carolina.
Come with me on a virtual tour....

Duke's East Campus Wall...a favorite place for walking, jogging, walking dogs or just enjoying a beautiful day.
When I lived in Trinity Park in the late 80's...I used to jog around this wall four or five times a week. Jogging around the wall...just as the sun was beginning to set...was the best therapy after a long day at work.

This photo looks down Watts Street and shows homes that are very typical of the neighborhood.
Many of these homes have been purchased in the past ten years and fully restored to their original charm and eloquence.

Just a short walk through the neighborhood brings you to Ninth Street. This particular photo shows several of the historic businesses that have been a part of the community since the beginning.
Ninth Street has shopping for everyone...including the famous (and my personal favorite) Ninth Street Bakery. However, IF Ninth Street is not your style...you can walk a few blocks down Gregson Street to Brightleaf Square.

Formerly the Liggett & Myers Tobacco Warehouse...the warehouses were used to house and ferment tobacco until 1970...when they were placed on the market for sale.
In 1980, investors purchased the warehouses and began construction on Brightleaf Square...which opened in 1981. Brightleaf Square's popularity has grown year after year.
Chamas, a fabulous Brazilian Steak House, is located in Brightleaf Square. Whether you are a resident of Durham, NC or just visiting, I strongly recommend that you enjoy dinner at Chamas.
Durham, NC is a wonderful place to live!

Well I just had a light bulb moment. I knew I was supposed to know something personal to me about Durham... this listing... just blocks from Duke... Duh! My daughter spent the summer after 7th grade up there after taking her SAT for the first time as part of the TIP program. Cute Cute house by the way.
And girl I'm sorry you've had a hard week. I promise PROMISE I'll be praying for you.
My Grandmother, which is what i call her, was the one who was my babysitter until I started school and then kept me after school until about 6th grade or so. We're very close and I hate I can't go be with her... Thanks for your prayers. You are a beautiful sweet girl.
Elizabeth, I've been out of the rain and missed so much! The cottage is adorable and I loved getting a tour of your beautiful neighborhood and hearing all about it. You have a lovely area in Durham, no wonder you love it! GBU!!
Beautiful post Elizabeth - reminds me of the area around our own Valparaiso university for some reason - this one should sell fast - we are always getting inquiries on our listings near campus by parents of students!
